The statement also highlighted that naturally dolphin-shaped, Shura Island, developed by world-renowned architects Foster + Partners under the Coral Bloom concept, symbolize its role as the vibrant heart of the Red Sea destination. Its architectural design draws inspiration from the surrounding coral reefs.
The resorts have been seamlessly integrated into the island’s natural environment, built with lightweight, low thermal mass materials, ensuring minimal environmental impact and high energy efficiency. As with the rest of the Red Sea destination, Shura Island operates entirely on renewable energy, the statement indicated.
Guests will either arrive by boat to the island’s marina or by electric vehicle across the stunning 3.3 kilometers Shura crossing, including Saudi Arabia’s longest internal bridge.
The first phase includes the launch of three prestigious global hotel brands offering curated luxury experiences at accessible price points.
SLS Red Sea Resort, featuring 150 luxurious rooms, apartments, and villas, will offer options both beachfront and overwater. The Red Sea EDITION is set to be a sanctuary of modern luxury and island serenity, the resort offers 240 elegantly designed rooms and a world-class spa.
Additionally, InterContinental the Red Sea Resort, five-star resort with 178 rooms, 32 suites, and a wellness center, is inspired by coral reefs.
Shura Island will eventually host 11 world-class resorts, with two additional openings expected later this year, specifically, Miraval Red Sea and Four Seasons Red Sea.
Furthermore, Shura Links will open this September, offering a world-class island golf experience. As the first island golf course in Saudi Arabia, featuring panoramic views, a layout that blends desert and greenery, and eco-friendly water management and sustainability practices.
RSG began welcoming visitors to its Red Sea destination in 2023. Five resorts are already operational, namely, Six Senses Southern Dunes, St. Regis Red Sea, Nujuma Ritz-Carlton Reserve, in addition to Shebara and Desert Rock (both directly operated by Red Sea Global).
Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which is situated within three hours' flying time of 250 million people, operates regular domestic and international flights, the statement noted.
