Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) signed today, Sept. 18, a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India’s NTPC at the Ministry of Energy headquarters in Riyadh.

The move aims to expand cooperation and exchange technical expertise between the two companies in the power sector.

The MoU covers collaboration in the operation and maintenance of power plants, modernization and upgrade works, procurement, engineering services, and project management. It also includes cooperation in research and development of modern energy technologies.

As part of the agreement, a joint venture will be established to provide power plant services in the Middle East, along with knowledge and expertise exchange between specialists, and investments in new power projects.

The step comes as part of SEC's efforts to strengthen its international partnerships and leverage global experiences to support the development of the Kingdom’s power sector.

NTPC is one of India’s largest state-owned power companies, with a generation capacity of about 77,000 megawatts from diverse sources, including coal, gas, hydro, wind, and solar energy. The company also has a notable presence in power projects outside India.
