Saudi airports were divided into five categories for GACA’s performance report

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) released its monthly report on the punctuality of Saudi airports and national carriers for September 2025.

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh (KKIA), King Fahd International Airport in Dammam (KFIA), Abha International Airport (AHB), Al Qaisumah International Airport and Gurayat Domestic Airport in Qurayyat ranked among the top-performing airports, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Saudi airports were divided into five categories in the performance report as follows:

Category 1: International airports with over 15 million passengers annually.

KKIA ranked first with a compliance rate of 82%, followed by King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah with 82%.

Category 2: International airports with five to 15 million passengers annually.

KFIA ranked first with a 91% compliance rate, slightly outperforming Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, which also recorded 91%, based on overall performance metrics.

Category 3: International airports with two to five million passengers annually.

AHB took the top spot with a 100% compliance rate, outperforming its peers in terms of average wait times for arriving and departing flights.

Category 4: International airports with fewer than two million passengers annually.

Al Qaisumah-Hafar Al Batin Airport ranked first with a 100% compliance rate, excelling in average wait times for both departures and arrivals.

Category 5: Domestic airports.

Gurayat Domestic Airport in Qurayyat secured the top spot with a 100% compliance rate, outperforming all other domestic airports in average waiting times for departures and arrivals.

GACA evaluates airport performance based on 11 core performance indicators, including passenger wait times during check-in, baggage claim, passport control, and customs, as well as accessibility standards for people with disabilities, benchmarking against international best practices.
