The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said it recorded the biggest year-on-year increase in outbound containers across its supervised ports in October, reaching 127,840 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

In a statement on Thursday, the authority said the growth reflects the Kingdom’s rising export capabilities, evolving infrastructure, and increasing capacity at national ports.

According to Argaam data, Saudi ports supervised by MAWANI handled 22.52 million tons of cargo in September, up 8.6% from 20.74 million tons a year earlier. The total includes both solid bulk and liquid bulk cargo.

In mid-2025, MAWANI, in partnership with the National Center for Privatization & PPP, signed build-operate-transfer (BOT) contracts with Saudi Global Ports (SGP) and Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) at a total investment value of more than SAR 2.2 billion to develop multi-purpose cargo terminals at eight ports across the Kingdom.
