Container throughput rises 12% to 709,400 in October: MAWANI

Saudi ports supervised by the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) recorded a 12.2% increase in container throughput during October 2025, reaching 709,390 TEUs, compared to 632,320 TEUs in October 2024.
 

In its statement, MAWANI said that transshipment containers rose by 38.68% to 179,28 TEUs, compared to 129,270 TEUs a year earlier.
 

The authority added that import containers increased to 273,750 TEUs, while export containers also rose to 127,840 TEUs.
 

The total cargo throughput, which includes general cargo, dry bulk, and liquid bulk, grew by 6.93% to 21.8 million tons, compared to 20.4 million tons a year ago. General cargo totaled 1.28 million tons, dry bulk 4.35 million tons, and liquid bulk 16.18 million tons.
 

MAWANI also noted that vessel traffic rose by 5.61% to 1,035 ships, compared to 980 ships in October 2024. Meanwhile, passenger numbers surged by 80.2% to 86,800 passengers, while the number of vehicles handled declined by 13.4% to 87,600 units.
 

The ports received 482,500 head of livestock, marking a 26.3% year-on-year (YoY) decrease.
 

According to data available with Argaam, Saudi ports recorded an 8.6% increase in total cargo throughput in September 2025, reaching 22.52 million tons compared to 20.74 million tons in September 2024.
