The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) invited the public to submit their views on the Space Sector Regulations and Guidelines document until March 24, 2026.

The document aims to spur activities in the space sector, while ensuring that the Kingdom continues to meet its international obligations related to space, including commitments arising from bilateral and multilateral agreements, international treaties, and similar instruments.

It also seeks to enhance coordination between government and private entities to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of space-related activities, the commission said.

The document also aims to boost clarity and transparency in licensing and permit procedures for space activities, protect national interests, enable the peaceful use of outer space, provide an investment-attractive environment for the space sector, and encourage research and innovation in space-related fields.

According to the CST, the document provides a comprehensive regulatory framework for space sector activities, along with guidelines covering related areas, including the operation of space objects, manned and unmanned space flights, spaceports, space resources, space surveillance and tracking, the national registry of space objects and launch operations, sustainability guidelines, and insurance guidelines for space activities.
