The number of oil drilling rigs worldwide fell by 82 units year-on-year (YoY) and 30 month-on-month in December to 1,783, data from the oilfield services company Baker Hughes showed.
The Middle East rig count decreased by four units to 509 in December compared with the previous month, and dropped by 28 YoY.
Similarly, the number of oil and gas rigs worldwide – excluding the US and Canada – declined by eight units MoM and 49 YoY to 1,065 in December.
