TASI 2025 round-up: Retail, institutional, foreign net flows

Individual investors were net sellers of approximately SAR 16.7 million in shares listed in the Main Market (TASI) during the week ended Jan. 1, 2026.
 

According to Argaam’s tracking of retail investor trends since 2025-start, Saudi individuals recorded their highest net sells in the week ended Sept. 25, 2025, at around SAR 5.7 billion, while their highest net buys were recorded in the week ended March 13, at about SAR 2.3 billion.

 

 

By 2025-end, individuals were net buyers in 30 weeks, compared to net selling in 23 weeks, out of a total of 53 weeks.

 

 

Meanwhile, institutional investors recorded net sells of about SAR 536.3 million during the week ended Jan. 1, 2026.

 

Since the beginning of 2025, institutions posted their highest net sells in the week ended June 26, at almost SAR 2.3 billion, while they purchased the most in the week ended Oct. 9, at around SAR 2.8 billion.

 

 

During 2025, institutions were net sellers in 39 weeks, compared to net buyers in 14 weeks.

 

 

Qualified foreign investors (QFIs) logged net purchases of roughly SAR 94.3 million in the week ended Jan. 1, 2026.

 

QFIs registered their highest net buying in the week ending Sept. 25, at around SAR 5.8 billion. This coincided with a statement by a Capital Market Authority (CMA) official indicating that the authority was moving toward allowing foreigners to acquire majority stakes in Saudi listed companies.

 

They, however, witnessed their highest net selling in the week ended April 10, at nearly SAR 2.2 billion.

 

 

QFIs were net buyers in 36 weeks during 2025, versus net sellers in 17 weeks.

 

 

Meanwhile, GCC investors recorded net purchases of about SAR 458.66 million in the week ended Jan. 1, 2026.

 

By year-end, GCC investors posted their highest net buys in the week ended Oct. 30, at around SAR 1.2 billion, while their highest net sell trades were recorded in the week ended Jan. 9, at SAR 559 million.

 

 

Since the beginning of 2025, GCC investors were net sellers in 25 weeks, compared to net buyers in another 28 weeks.

 

 

The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) recorded losses of about 1,546 points, or 12.8%, during 2025, closing at 10,491 points, marking its lowest annual close in 10 years.
