Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef said the mining sector faces several challenges, including project development, fragmented policies, infrastructure gaps, and financing constraints, stressing that no country can tackle these issues alone, but only through serious and collective action.

 

Speaking at the fifth International Ministerial Roundtable in Riyadh, Al-Khorayef noted that collective efforts can drive real change. He highlighted significant progress over the past five years, particularly through cooperation with the World Bank to address financing gaps in mineral exploration and infrastructure investment.

 

He added that initiatives included launching transparent and traceable dialogues to monitor activities and achievements, developing standards that reflect on-the-ground realities, and establishing centers of excellence to build capabilities, discover talent, promote sustainable practices, and enable technology.

 

Al-Khorayef explained that the ministerial roundtable provides a shared platform to address complex challenges by bringing together governments, the private sector, and industrial institutions, reaffirming that the joint commitment to investing time and effort wisely to advance this important program for the future of global mineral resources.
