US private sector adds 22,000 new jobs in January

The US private sector added fewer jobs than expected in January, signaling a continued slowdown in the labor market of the world's largest economy at the start of 2026, according to data from ADP.

Nela Richardson, Chief Economist at ADP, stated that the US private sector saw 398,000 job additions over the past year—a substantial decrease from the 771,000 jobs added in 2024, albeit wage growth remained stable.
