Saudi Arabia maintains 17th place among largest holders of US Treasuries in December 2025
Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries increased by $707 million month-on-month (MoM) to $149.5 billion in December 2025, recent data released by the US Department of Treasury showed.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom maintained the 17th place among the largest holders of US Treasuries for the month.
Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasury bonds saw a notable increase in 2025, with the value of its holdings rising by about $12 billion to $149.5 billion at the end of December 2025 from $137.5 billion at the end of December 2024.
Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries included long-term bonds worth $107.1 billion, representing 72% of the total, as well as short-term bonds at $42.5 billion, accounting for 28%.
Japan was the top holder of US Treasuries by value in December, with $1.18 trillion, followed by the UK with $866 billion.
