President Trump is weighing an initial limited military strike on Iran to force it to meet his demands for a nuclear deal, a first step that would be designed to pressure Tehran into an agreement but fall short of a full-scale attack that could inspire a major retaliation, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing informed sources.

The potential strike would target select military or government sites, with the possibility of escalation should Iran refuse to halt uranium enrichment.

A broader US military strike against Iranian facilities could follow—potentially aimed at “toppling the regime”—if Tehran persists in rejecting demands to stop enrichment.

The limited-strike option, revealed for the first time, signals Trump’s openness to using military force not only to penalize Iran for failing to reach an agreement, but also to pave the way for a deal that would serve US interests.
