Oil prices fell at the close of trading today, Feb. 24, after approaching their highest levels in seven months, following Iran's willingness to take any necessary steps to reach an agreement with the US. The nuclear talks are scheduled for later this week.

Brent crude futures for April delivery fell 1%, or 72 cents, to $70.77 a barrel.

WTI crude oil futures for April delivery also fell by 1%, or 68 cents, to $65.63 a barrel.

This came in the wake of a report published by the American radio station NPR stating that Iran is ready to reach an agreement with the US as soon as possible, which sparked widespread reaction on social media.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister said in media statements today that Tehran is ready to take any necessary steps to reach an agreement with the United States, before negotiations on the nuclear issue resume on Feb. 26 in Geneva.
