US gasoline prices rose to their highest level since October 2023, as global energy markets remain unsettled amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The national average reached about $3.72 per gallon, the highest since October 2023, according to American Automobile Association's (AAA) data.
Prices are up 74 cents per gallon since the conflict with Iran began in late February, marking a roughly 26.9% omonth-on-month (MoM) increase, the sharpest rise since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The increase follows major disruptions in oil markets after attacks on Middle East energy facilities, which significantly reduced tanker flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
