The assets of public investment funds in Saudi Arabia reached SAR 220.8 billion by the end of 2025, marking a 27% increase from approximately SAR 174.5 billion in 2024.
According to data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the increase was mainly driven by domestic fund assets, which account for 87% of total assets, rising 33% to SAR 192.9 billion. Meanwhile, foreign fund assets, representing 13% of the total, declined by 6% to SAR 27.9 billion.
The assets of both domestic and foreign investment funds include stocks, bonds, cash instruments, other assets, and real estate investments.
Public investment funds are categorized into open-ended and closed-ended funds. Open-ended funds have total assets of SAR 188 billion, accounting for 85% of total fund assets, across 330 funds. Meanwhile, closed-ended funds have assets worth SAR 32.8 billion across 26 funds.
The total number of active public investment funds at the end of 2025 reached 356, up from 325 in the previous year.
Meanwhile, the number of fund subscribers increased by over 6,000, reaching approximately 1.58 million.
