Dubai Airports said that the airport accommodates to more than 71m passengers by the end of the year.

The decline of the number of flights during the first 10 months of 2014 compared to the same period last year was attributed to transferring all cargo airlines and other air couriers to Al Maktoum International Airport-Dubai World Center since the beginning of this year in addition to the normal decline of the number of flights driven by the shutdown of two runways at Dubai airport for 80 days due to maintenance work.

Passengers from Indian subcontinent increased by 122,000 passengers in October 2014 compared to the same month last year followed by passengers from Western Europe and Asia which increased 113,000 and 64,000 passengers respectively.

Passengers from Russia and Commonwealth countries declined 8.2% while passengers from GCC countries and the Middle East declined 3.7% and 3.2% respectively.
