Abu Dhabi inflation rate jumps 2.7% in H1

Abu Dhabi’s inflation rate, measured by its Consumer Price Index (CPI), jumped 2.7 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in the first half of 2016 as the cost of housing, water, electricity, and fuels increased, new data released by the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi showed.

 

Housing, utilities and fuel together accounted for 84.9 percent of the rate hike as prices in this category shot up by 7.1 percent YoY in H1.

 

Commodities and services was the second largest contributor to the uptick, with prices in the segment up by 3.1 percent YoY over the same period.

 

The data also showed that the emirate’s inflation rate edged up 0.3 percent YoY in Q2-2016.

 

Inflation in Abu Dhabi climbed 0.6 percent during June, compared with the same month last year.
