Dubai-listed Emaar Properties is expected to tender construction contracts for its $1 billon tower project at the Dubai Creek Harbour in October, Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) reported.
The tender period will be for six weeks, with an award for the project scheduled for the end of this year, the report said.
Structural work on the 928-meter-plus tall tower will likely be split into two packages, one for the concrete tower, and another for the steel frame at the top of the building.
Earlier this month, the Dubai-based developer held a briefing with selected contractors to discuss tendering for the high-rise project.
The tower, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, will be the tallest in the world if its height exceeds that of the Jeddah Tower, which is currently under construction in Saudi Arabia.
