Saudi Arabia’s population grew by 220,000 to 31.74 million in the first half of 2016, compared with 31.52 million by the end of 2015, new data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GAS) showed.
Saudis accounted for 63 percent, or 20.1 million, of the total population and expatriates represented the remaining 37 percent, or 11.7 million.
Makkah region had the largest population of 8.3 million. It was followed by Riyadh and Eastern Province with 8 million and 4.8 million respectively, the data added.
As for the demographic trend, persons aged between 25 and 44 years accounted for 39 percent of total population.
