Saudi Arabia’s telecom regulator has awarded Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) a unified telecommunication license for a total fee of SAR 5 million, the company said in a statement.
The license, which is valid until Oct. 21, 2034, will allow Mobily to provide all telecom services including fixed line voice and fixed internet services.
The kingdom’s second largest telecom operator said the license will be good for business by allowing it to improve its competitive position and to provide more promotions.
In October, the Saudi government asked the CITC to provide the kingdom’s operators with unified telecommunication licenses, and to extend their validity periods by 15 years.
Earlier this week, Mobily competitor Zain Saudi was granted its unified telecom license after obtaining all regulatory approvals.
The government will charge a 5 percent fee of each telco’s annual net income as part of the license agreement.
