Saudi Catering H1 net profit slips 7% on lower sales

Saudi Airlines Catering Co. reported a net profit of SAR 252.4 million in the first half of 2017, a 7.3 percent drop year-on-year (YoY) on lower catering sales to other and foreign airlines and a decline in airline equipment sales to Saudia. This was partially offset by an increase in catering sales to Saudi Airlines (Saudia) and higher airports retail sales.

The company’s net profit for the second quarter fell 7.6 percent YoY to SAR 131 million due to an adjustment of SAR 3.5 million in zakat and tax provision, related to previous years. This was in addition to a decrease in catering sales and lower airline equipment sales to Saudia.

 

Compared to the previous quarter, Q2 2017 net profit grew 7.9 percent mainly due to an increase in catering sales to Saudia and higher volume of guests in lounges.
