The profit growth was spurred by Alujain’s higher profit share from its affiliate, National Petrochemical Industries Co. (NATPET), by SAR 19.76 million, and a decline of SAR 12.76 million in Zakat provision in 2020, compared to a year earlier.
The 2019 provision also included additional differences issued by the General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT) for the period from 2003 to 2016.
Alujain attributed NATPET’s profit rise to receiving the remaining part of the final insurance settlement of SAR 330 million. The company resumed operations and production after completing the reconstruction of NATPET factory, which suspended operations since Q4 2018.
