A drone attack on one of the natural gas processing units in the Shaybah oil field in eastern Saudi Arabia caused a “limited fire”, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources.
“We condemn the cowardly attack, and affirm that this action of sabotage is a continuation of the series of attacks, targeting the global oil supply chain, including those that were recently launched against oil pipelines in the Kingdom and tankers in the Arabian Gulf amongst others,” Al-Falih said.
He emphasized that these attacks not only target Saudi Arabia, but also the global security of energy supply and the global economy.
“This, once again, demonstrates the imperative for the global community to confront all terrorist entities that carry out such acts of sabotage, including the Iranian-backed Houthi militias in Yemen,” Al-Falih stressed.
Saudi Aramco’s response team also confirmed in a statement that it controlled the fire and did not result in injuries and any interruptions to the firm’s oil operations
