Meanwhile, prices of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil for September delivery (expires today) dropped 0.45%, or 33 cents, to $74.04 per barrel.
Gold futures prices for December delivery increased by 0.35%, or $9.3, to $2,550.6 per ounce, hitting a record level for the sixth time this month.
