SAR reports 22% rise in passengers to 13.7M in 2024

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) transported 13.7 million passengers across its networks in 2024, reflecting a 22% year-on-year (YoY) increase.

 

According to its statement on X, SAR also transported over 28 million tons of goods and minerals, achieving a 15% growth.

 

Additionally, through the Mashaer Train, SAR facilitated the transportation of more than 2 million pilgrims during the 1445H Hajj season, easing the pressure on land transportation.

 

The company highlighted that passenger train trips surpassed 35,000, a 19% increase from 2023, driven by the growing demand for trains as a safe and reliable means of transport.

 

In freight, SAR played a key role in reducing over 2 million truck trips on the Kingdom's roads, saving more than 113 million liters of fuel and contributing to lower carbon emissions.
