US crude oil inventories increased during the week ended Nov. 7, marking the second consecutive weekly high and signaling weakening fuel demand.

Commercial crude stockpiles rose by 6.4 million barrels last week, far exceeding expectations of a 400,000-barrel increase, data released Thursday by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed.

Meanwhile, gasoline inventories fell by 900,000 barrels, and distillate stocks — including diesel and heating oil — declined by 600,000 barrels.
