Cabinet approves draft rules, procedures for National Minerals Program

Saudi Cabinet, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, approved the extension of the National Technology Development Program (NTDP) through the end of 2030

The Council of Ministers approved today, Jan. 6, the draft rules and procedures governing the operations of the National Minerals Program.

During its meeting held in Riyadh, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Cabinet also approved the extension of the National Technology Development Program (NTDP) through the end of 2030, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Cabinet approved the establishment of the National Minerals Program in July 2024, under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Argaam’s data showed.

The program’s key mandates include ensuring the quality and adequacy of supply chains for current and future minerals, as well as developing and managing strategic mineral stockpiles. It also involves assessing and monitoring the Kingdom’s mineral needs, formulating plans and strategies, securing industrial supplies of mining raw materials, and ensuring continuity of supply.
