Details of regulations on licensing occupational safety, health practitioners

The Official Gazette published the regulations on the licensing and accreditation of occupational safety and health (OSH) practitioners and service providers.

The 29-article regulations aim to organize work in the field of occupational safety and health. They also seek to enhance the quality of services provided, and monitor compliance and continuous development through the establishment of an integrated licensing and accreditation framework for individuals or entities engaged in providing OSH services.

The regulations apply to individuals who independently provide specialized services in the field of occupational safety and health or related areas, as well as establishments that provide specialized occupational safety and health services across all government, private, and non-profit sectors.

Under the regulations, no occupational safety and health profession may be practiced, nor any related services provided, without obtaining a license/accreditation from the council. Licensees/accredited entities may not exceed the scope of their license/accreditation, in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards issued by the competent authorities.

Licensed or accredited individuals or entities must perform their duties in a manner that serves the interests of individuals, establishments, and society, while fully adhering to human rights, safety, and dignity. They must also observe the laws, customs, and traditions prevailing in the Kingdom and refrain from any practices involving exploitation or unlawful inducement.
