The Japanese carmaker sold around 10.32 million vehicles between January and November 2025
Toyota Motor Corp. maintained its lead as the world’s largest automaker by sales for the sixth year in a row.
From January through the end of November 2025, the Japanese company, which includes the Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors brands, sold around 10.32 million vehicles.
In contrast, its closest rival, Volkswagen Group, which includes brands such as Audi and Porsche, reported full-year 2025 sales of 8.98 million units, down 0.5% year on year (YoY). This figure remains significantly lower than Toyota’s sales achieved in just 11 months of the same year.
The German group’s decline comes amid intensifying competition from Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers and challenges stemming from high US tariffs.
Meanwhile, Toyota recorded its first sales growth in the Chinese market in four years and delivered a strong performance in the US.
