SABIC AN says the new plant will produce 1.2 mtpa of conventional ammonia and 2.6 mtpa of urea
SABIC Agri-Nutrients Co. (SABIC AN) received, on March 25, the Ministry of Energy’s approval to allocate feedstock for its seventh plant in Jubail Industrial City, according to a Tadawul statement.
The plant will produce 1.2 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) of conventional ammonia and 2.6 mtpa of urea.
The new addition will increase the company’s urea production capacity from 4.8 million mtpa to 7.4 million mtpa, a 54% increase over current levels.
This reinforces SABIC AN’s position as one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of nitrogen-based fertilizers, in line with its 2040 growth strategy.
In a separate statement to Tadawul, the company said it received a letter from the Ministry of Energy on the feedstock allocations for its sixth plant in Jubail Industrial City, which will produce 1.2 4 million mtpa of low-carbon blue ammonia.
SABIC AN will disclose any material developments in due course, including the final investment decision and the awarding of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts.
In July 2024, the company received the ministry’s approval for feedstock allocation for its sixth plant in Jubail Industrial City.
The plant will produce 1.2 4 million mtpa of low-carbon blue ammonia and 1.1 4 million mtpa of urea and specialty fertilizers.
