A feasibility study is being conducted for an electric train service between Riyadh and Dammam to cut the trip time to 90 minutes, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Mohamed al-Suwaiket, president of Saudi Railways Organization (SRO).

The train will run at a speed of 300 kilometer/hour (km/h).

Work is also underway to increase the speed of other trains running between Riyadh and Dammam to 180 km/h from 160 km/h so as to reduce the travel time to three-and-half hours, Al-Suwaiket said.
