TASI rises for 3rd straight day to near 10,800, turnover hits SAR 16.4B
Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose 1.2%, or 130 points, to 10,781 points today, Sept. 18.
Total turnover reached nearly SAR 16.4 billion, including negotiated deals and periodic changes implemented by FTSE Russell.
The benchmark opened at 10,667 points, touching a high of 10,781 points and a low of 10,630 points during the session.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) lowered its reverse repo rate by 25 basis points to 4.25% on Sept. 17, following the US Fed’s cut of its benchmark interest rate by a similar amount to between 4% and 4.25%.
Market Index
Saudi Aramco and Al Rajhi Bank led the market gainers, rising 2% to SAR 24.47 and SAR 94.80, respectively.
MBC Group surged 10% to SAR 32.20. Nearly 182 million shares, valued at SAR 7.54 billion, were traded. These included negotiated deals related to the Public Investment Fund’s acquisition of a 54% stake in the media company.
Electrical Industries hit an all-time high at SAR 9.99 (+10%), with approximately 20 million shares traded. A company subsidiary signed a contract, worth SAR 1.41 billion, with Saudi Electricity Co. to localize and supply extra-high voltage and high-voltage transformers and reactors.
Al Majdiah closed at SAR 13.14 (+8%).
National Gypsum also rose nearly 10%.
