Saudi Arabia’s curfew amid coronavirus takes effect

The curfew ordered by King Salman across Saudi Arabia came into effect yesterday evening from 7pm to 6am, and will last for 21 days to curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease.

Some facilities are excluded from the curfew as follows: 

The food sector (points of sale) such as catering and supermarkets, poultry, vegetables and meat shops, bakeries, food factories and laboratories;

The health sector, such as pharmacies, clinics (dispensaries), hospitals, laboratories, factories, factories and materials and medical devices;

The media sector; 

The transportation sector, such as those transporting goods, parcels, customs clearance, warehouses, warehouses, logistics services, supply chains for the health sector, the food sector, and port operations;

E-commerce activities such as those working on electronic procurement and delivery applications for the excluded activities;

Accommodation services such as hotels and furnished apartments;

Financial services and insurance sector, such as direct accidents (Najm), urgent health insurance services (approvals), and other insurance services;

The energy sector such as gas stations and emergency services for the electric company;

The telecom sector as Internet and communication network operators;

The water sector, such as the water company emergency services and home drinking water delivery service.

Meanwhile, the security, military and healthcare vehicles, government regulatory services vehicles, and activity vehicles excluded above will be allowed to continue operating during the curfew hours.

Delivery services through smart device applications (express delivery services) during the curfew will be allowed for food and drug needs and other essential goods and services that are excluded and delivered to homes. 

Except for emergency cases, all those who violate the curfew will be fined SAR 10,000 and could face jail time if they repeatedly break the law.
