GACA to transfer all Saudi airports to Matarat Holding by 2022: Exec

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) will transfer the ownership of the remaining 22 airports to GACA-owned Saudi Matarat Holding Co. next year, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing its President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej.

 

GACA will regulate the transfer process as the airports and relevant business units are to be transformed into separate companies, fully-owned by Matarat Holding, with ownership to be transferred to the Public Investment Fund (PIF) ahead of each company being privatized.

 

Al-Duailej indicated that GACA has several pending investment requests related to the construction of new airports, and undertaking the ground services, cargo shipping and other relevant services.

 

The privatization process started with the redevelopment of the airports in Abha, Taif, and Qassim, he added.
