The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department of Traffic, said the bank accounts of traffic violators will be directly seized, according to a new mechanism that will be announced later in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The move comes in application of a Royal decree issued on amending Article 75 of the Traffic Law, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The seizure will be imposed on traffic violators who fail to pay fines within 15 days from the 30-day period specified for objection to fines, or if the competent court rejects the violator’s objection or issues a ruling on changing the fine, unless the violator applies to get another period of 90 days maximum to pay the fine.

The ministry will publish the list of violations to which direct seizure does not apply, in addition to other regulations about installing the value of a single fine and reducing this value by 25% maximum of the minimum limit.
