Housing Ministry links street vendor licensing to freelance work permits

The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing, in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), has announced the integration of Balady and self-employment platforms, enabling the issuance of freelance work permits to street vendors.  

 

The decision aims to enable street vendors to access a range of incentives and facilities such as diverse digital payment solutions, opening a bank account, and optional enrollment in social insurance, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The freelance work permit allows individuals to take up activities approved by the HRSD Ministry.
