GACA to boost Jeddah Airport annual capacity to 100M passengers

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) aims to increase the capacity of Jeddah International Airport to 100 million passengers annually by 2030, said Vice President Mohammed Al-Khuraisi, noting that the addition of a new national carrier is also possible. 

 

Speaking to Al-Ekhbariya TV, Al-Khuraisi pointed to plans to invest in boosting the seat capacity of carriers over the next two years. 

 

He also indicated that this year was exceptional in the Kingdom's aviation industry, as the number of passengers exceeded pre-pandemic levels, expecting the number of passengers to reach 108 million in 2023, with the number of destinations also surging to more than 130 for the same year. 

 

The executive also pointed out that a number of aircraft deals were announced this year by Riyadh Air, Saudia, Flynas and Flyadeal, which included the purchase of more than 100 aircraft.
