Public buses passengers rise 234% to 43.5M in 2022

The number of public transport passengers by intra-city and intercity buses reached about 43.5 million passengers during 2022, up by 234% from 2021, the Land Transport Statistics Publication 2022 issued by the General Authority for Statistics indicated.

The report noted that the number of bus transport users intercity amounted to about 39.1 million passengers, representing 90% of the total passengers, while the number of intra-city passengers reached about 4.42 million passengers.

The total quantity of domestic land freight reached 209 million tons in 2022 Up 6% from 2021.

Meanwhile, the total lengths of the paved road network during 2022 amounted to 266,000 kilometers, an increase of 2% from 2021.

On the other hand, the number of vehicles stood at 14.96 million during 2022, a rise of 5% from 2021.
