GAC sues against 2 mining establishments for price collusion

The General Authority for Competition (GAC) decided to file criminal cases against two establishments in the mining sector and 24 for price collusion.

GAC’s board reviewed the results of investigations with four establishments operating in the mining sector in its 86th meeting. The board approved the initiation of criminal lawsuits against two facilities for agreeing to fix prices, and decided to dismiss the case against two entities, due to lack of evidence of their violation of the competition law, GAC said in a statement.

The board also reviewed the results of investigations with two establishments operating in the operation and management of business services sector, and decided to approve their settlement requests.

The board also agreed to investigate and gather evidence on the possibility of several establishments operating in various sectors and relevant parties violating the competition law. Two of these facilities operate in the waste transportation sector, two operate in the telecommunications and information technology sector, and two operate in the machinery and equipment spare parts, inspection, and testing devices sector. Investigations also included one facility operating in the wholesale and retail trade sector, two in real estate marketing and project management and development sectors, one operating in the retail sector, five operating in the sale of gas cylinders sector, and other one operating in the construction sector.
