Saudi Arabia has made a new leap in the volume of poultry meat production during the first half of 2024, achieving a record of 558 million kilograms, up 9% from 511 million kilograms a year earlier, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) said in a statement received by Argaam.
The ministry explained that applying biosecurity measures in poultry projects and encouraging the use of modern technologies in production processes contributed to developing the Saudi poultry sector and increasing local production.
The Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) provides funding for the companies and institutions willing to expand in the poultry production industry of up to 70% of the investment cost, provided the use of modern technologies, the statement added.
MEWA also emphasized that the Kingdom is going forward in increasing self-sufficiency in poultry meat and is working under an expansion plan aimed at pumping new investments into the sector. This is all to boost production capacity, contribute to achieving national food security, enhance local content, and provide new jobs.
The ministry also aims to achieve reach self-sufficiency in poultry products, besides providing government facilities and support and lending packages through the ADF, in order to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
