An Iranian diplomat said Tehran is willing to pursue a balanced and pragmatic approach in its dealings with Europe, engaging rationally with both the East and the West.
In remarks made to Reuters in Berlin on Friday, the diplomat indicated that Iran could serve as a chess piece for Europe, easing dual pressure between the East and the West.
He also suggested that Tehran could play a stabilizing role in a shifting global landscape, despite pressure from Washington.
European Union foreign ministers are scheduled to meet with their Iranian counterpart in Geneva later today, June 22, seeking the resumption of diplomatic negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program.
