Iran's Parliament votes to close Strait of Hormuz

22/06/2025 Argaam

The Iranian Parliament voted today, June 22, to close the Strait of Hormuz. A final decision is subject to the approval of the Supreme National Security Council.

This move follows a series of US airstrikes conducted early today, alongside Israeli operations targeting nuclear and military facilities within Iran over the last few days.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical artery for global energy flows. Any disruption there could threaten market stability and negatively impact energy prices, as it handles about one in five barrels of oil and gas globally .
