Iran partially reopened its airspace over the eastern region of the country on Wednesday, state media reported, following a 12-day war and a ceasefire agreement with Israel.
The airspace was closed since June 13 after Israeli airstrikes hit Iranian territory. Iran responded with waves of missiles and drone attacks against Israel.
According to the state-run IRNA news agency, Majid Akhavan, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, said that the airspace over eastern Iran has been reopened to international overflights, as well as domestic and international flights arriving or departing from airports in the eastern region.
Mashhad International Airport resumed operations, reportedly struck by Israel. Other operational airports include Chabahar, Zahedan, and Jask.
However, Akhavan said air travel in other parts of Iran, including Tehran, remains suspended until further notice.
