Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan said Saudi Arabia seeks to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2060, thanks to its leading role in developing clean energy technologies.

Addressing a meeting of the board of governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) held in China, Al-Jadaan stressed the need for the latter to boost its support for low-income countries.

He highlighted that AIIB should also expand efforts to attract private capital, given that infrastructure development is crucial for global growth and requires active private-sector participation.

Al-Jadaan also called on the bank to accelerate its investments in emerging energy technological solutions.

Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies are no longer optional but have become essential for achieving energy security and ensuring sustainability, according to the minister.
