Saudi Power Procurement Co. (Principal Buyer) signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Yanbu Wind Power Project, which has a total capacity of 700 megawatts and an investment value exceeding SAR 1.7 billion (approximately $458 million).

 

The agreement was signed with a consortium led by Marubeni Corporation and Ajlan & Bros Holding Group.

The Madinah-based project will generate electricity at a cost of SAR 0.064 per kilowatt-hour (equivalent to $0.017 per kilowatt-hour), Saudi Press Agency reported.

 

The Ministry of Energy will oversee the project, which is a part of the National Renewable Energy Program.

 

Principal Buyer is responsible for preparing preliminary studies, launch of electricity generation projects, and the purchase of the electricity generated from such projects.
