Chemanol board ends Acting CEO term, Al-Waridah takes helm

Methanol Chemicals Co.’s board of directors terminated the tenure of Fares Al-Abbad as Acting CEO from July 14, according to a Tadawul statement.

Al-Abbad will resume his role as Vice President of Manufacturing.

 

The company said the board appointed Awad Al-Wuraidah as the new CEO, effective July 15.

 

Al-Wuraidah holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from King Saud University in Riyadh and brings over 25 years of professional experience in the petrochemical industry with Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), both inside and outside the Kingdom.

 

He worked across various domains, including research and technology, manufacturing, strategic business units, local content development, and growth projects. Most recently, he served as General Manager of SABIC’s strategic transformation project “STAR.”

 

In addition, Al-Wuraidah held board memberships in several SABIC subsidiaries and chaired multiple committees both locally and internationally.

 

Chemanol terminated the contract of CEO Sabri Al-Ghamdi last May. Al-Abbad, current Vice President of Manufacturing, was assigned Acting CEO, according to Argaam’s data.
