Draft amendments aim to clarify violations, boost compliance, and protect worker rights
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) put forth a draft update to the schedule of violations and penalties under the Labor Law and its executive regulations for public consultation through the Istiqlaa platform until Sept. 30.
The update reflects recent amendments to the Labor Law and its bylaws, aiming to clearly specify and define violations for both establishments and inspectors to standardize enforcement across entities and reduce reliance on personal judgment, according to a ministerial statement.
The revisions also address labor market changes such as flexible and remote work, with clarified penalties aimed at enhancing transparency, encouraging compliance, and safeguarding the rights of both employers and employees, it added.
