Housing Minister Majed Al-Hogail
Saudi Arabia’s housing program requires continual and rapid delivery of new residential units each year, Housing Minister Majed Al-Hogail said, adding that the ministry is working to maintain balance in the housing sector to ensure plans are not delayed.
Speaking to Asharq News on the sidelines of his visit to China, Al-Hogail said the ministry aims to attract leading Chinese contractors capable of driving a major shift in housing development.
The government is working to avert challenges that could slow the pace of growth or hinder the rollout of the National Housing Program, including a potential shortage of qualified builders, he noted.
The minister said 8,000 housing units agreed upon during his previous visit to China are ready, and 24,000 more were signed during the current visit. The goal is to deliver 100,000 units by next year, he said.
Al-Hogail added that recent housing regulations, including the White Land Tax system, are expected to spur new projects in Riyadh, underscoring the need for partnerships between local developers and international firms to execute these developments.
