Sulaiman Al-Khatib, Acting Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, stated that the Saudi agricultural sector currently produces 16 million tons of agricultural products, with the sector’s GDP contribution reaching around SAR 118 billion.

In an interview with Argaam on the sidelines of the 42nd Saudi Agriculture Exhibition, Al-Khatib noted that the Kingdom aims to increase the sector’s GDP contribution to SAR 140 billion by 2030.

He highlighted that Saudi Arabia has achieved self-sufficiency in several agricultural products, including table eggs, dairy products, milk, vegetables, fish, poultry, and meat.

The Saudi market is attractive for both investment and consumption, said the official, indicating that the private sector—both local and foreign investors—plays a key role in agricultural investments.

He added that the Kingdom offers various solutions to support producers and investors in terms of consumer accessibility.

According to Al-Khatib, the 2025 Saudi Agriculture Exhibition hosted 430 exhibitors from 35 countries, showcasing innovative technologies and solutions for different agricultural fields, including crop production, livestock, and fisheries.
