KKIA says schedules for a number of flights were affected by delays and cancellations over the past two days

King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) said schedules for a number of flights were affected by delays and cancellations over the past two days due to a combination of operational factors.

In a statement, the airport said the factors included the diversion of flights from other airports to Riyadh, in addition to scheduled maintenance within the fuel supply system, which affected the operating times of some airlines’ flights.

The airport urged passengers to contact their airline directly before heading to the airport to check the status of their flights and updated schedules, to ensure their comfort and avoid congestion inside terminal buildings.

It stressed that operational safety remains its top priority, noting that operational teams are working around the clock, in close coordination with airlines and relevant authorities, to address developments and restore normal operations as soon as possible while minimising any impact on passenger experience.

In a separate statement, Saudia said some of its flights at KKIA were affected due to a temporary operational challenge at the airport, resulting in delays and cancellations of a number of services.

The airline said it is working directly with Riyadh Airports Co. to manage the situation, adding that affected guests are being contacted through various communication channels and exempted from fees related to booking changes.

Saudia advised passengers to check the status of their flights before travelling to the airport, while reaffirming that its teams continue efforts to return operations to normal and thanking travellers for their understanding of circumstances beyond the airline’s control.
